Project: Clarendon Road
Located within the immediate vicinity of Southsea Seafront and South Parade Pier, this imposing building was in desperate need of external repairs and decorating. It had lost it’s curb appeal needed a bit of help to be restored to its former glory… Marie approached us on behalf of the Redcliffe Gardens Association and explained what their expectations were. The issues were not only cosmetic but also structural as the bad state of the building was causing water ingress problems. after a few visits ur surveyors made an assessment and submitted a recommendation report, and once the works were agreed we provided a schedule so the works could start as soon as possible.
A large scaffolding was erected to the front and rear of the building, and as soon as the weather permitted, works were underway.. First of all, all areas were meticulously prepared, all loose or defective parts of existing finishes removed and made good. This was quite a considerable task on a building of this size : large areas had to be scrapped back to bricks then repaired, large areas or render to do – and there was a lot of hairline cracks to deal with (opened up to width of 10mm then injected with Sikadur-33 2 part structural epoxy adhesive flush with the surface). Once we were satisfied that all surfaces were sound and ready, 2x base coats and top coat of Johnson’s Stormshield Piolite masonry paint were applied. We also prepared all wood and metal surfaces, primed and painted them. As we always do, we took the opportunity while the scaffolding was up to carry out a complete inspection of all roof areas and reported back to Marie. We compiled a full condition report complete with pictures, recommendations, and costs – and submitted for approval. Once the go ahead was given our Qcurb Roofing division was able to complete the works with no delays: we renewed some guttering, fitted some new white UPVC Fascia boards and soffits, repaired and renewed some sections of flat roofs, changed broken roof tiles, supplied and fitted eaves Trays, cleaned and serviced roof valleys, renewed completely the top of the front bay, and renewed both firewalls. We always provide pictures of the finished works to our clients so they can appreciate and visualise the works that were carried out.
The result is quite stunning, this building is now transformed and definitely stands out again. All the building residents commented on how great it was to see their home regain some curb appeal, and also how reassuring it was to know that their building was now efficiently protected against the elements for years to come. Impressed with our works, the management company of the building next door asked us to carry out some works on their own block.
